1 - 8 ounce Bottle of Novacan BLACK Patina
The Novacan BLACK Patina is designed to transform silver solder into a sleek black finish, adding depth and contrast to your stained glass projects. For the best results, follow these steps:
- After soldering, wipe the finished solder with 0000 (super fine) steel wool.
- Clean the solder with a non-ammonium cleaner (avoid glass or window cleaners). A spray bottle of inexpensive alcohol or a dedicated flux remover like CJ’s or KwikClean will work perfectly.
- Apply the patina with a clean acid/flux brush.
- Clean the surface again to remove any excess.
- To protect and enhance the patina, finish off with a metal polish, car wax, or Clarity Finishing Compound for a shiny, smooth surface.
For an Antique Finish, after completing the above steps, gently go over the solder again with the super fine steel wool to lighten the black patina, then clean once more. By repeating this process, you can achieve a beautifully aged, antique look that gives your projects a unique, vintage appearance.
