Description
Glazing Brush for Stained Glass Lead Work - Hand & Nail Tampico
The Glazing Brush is a specialized tool used for cleaning and polishing stained glass after cementing. It's designed with Tampico bristles, ideal for the delicate process of cleaning up excess cement and burnishing the lead came, ensuring a professional finish on your stained glass projects.
Product Features:
- Hand & Nail Tampico Bristles: Durable and soft bristles that are gentle on glass and lead but effective for cleaning.
- Effective Cement Removal: Use the brush with whiting powder to remove excess cement, preventing it from hardening on the glass.
- Circular Motion Technique: Brush in circular motions against the lead came to allow the whiting powder to absorb the excess cement and clean the panel.
- Burnishing Lead Came: After the cement is cleaned, continue brushing to burnish the lead cames and polish the glass for a smooth, refined finish.
- Versatile Use: Ideal for use on both sides of the stained glass panel to clean and polish after glazing.
How to Use:
- Apply Whiting Powder: Spread a light coating of whiting powder over the entire stained glass panel.
- Clean the Cement: Using the clean Glazing Brush, brush in a circular motion, allowing the whiting to absorb the excess cement.
- Brush Away Clumps: Brush away any dry clumps and continue the process until the cement is cleaned from the glass.
- Polish the Lead Came: Keep brushing to burnish the lead cames and polish the glass.
- Flip and Repeat: Flip the panel and repeat the process on the other side, starting with applying cement.
- Clean with Fid Stick: After allowing the glazing to set (at least a few hours), use a fid stick to clean around the glass edges and remove any remaining cement.
Important Notes:
- Ensure the window is thoroughly cleaned before the cement fully dries, as dried cement is difficult to remove.
- Allow the window to dry for at least 48 hours before moving.
- Small amounts of cement may ooze out from the edges; use a fid to clean them up.
The Glazing Brush is an essential tool for achieving a clean, polished look on your lead came and glass, making it perfect for finishing your stained glass projects.
